U.S. TO RESUME WTO TALKS WITH CHINA

U.S. TO RESUME WTO TALKS WITH CHINA
    U.S. trade officials said they will resume talks with their Chinese
counterparts this week over China’s entry into the World Trade Organization.
    China’s willingness to return to the table has raised speculation that
a deal will be signed when President Clinton meets with China President Jiang Zemin later
this month in Australia.
    China suspended WTO negotiations in April after the U.S. accidentally
bombed the Chinese Embassy in Yugoslavia during the war over Kosovo.
    Trade concessions made by the Chinese in March for WTO entrance
included promises to fully liberalize China’s transportation and distribution markets
within four years.
