UNIGLORY AND COSCO IN JOINT FAR EAST/INDIAN SUBCONTINENT/MIDEAST LINK
Uniglory Marine Corp., an affiliate of Taiwan’s Evergreen Line, and
COSCO Container Lines, have signed an agreement to operate a joint weekly service
connecting the Far East, the Indian Subcontinent and the Mideast.
Named CPG, the seven-ship service will call at Xingang, Shanghai, Hong
Kong, Singapore, Dubai, Karachi, Colombo, Port Kelang, Singapore, Hong Kong and Xingang
again.
Uniglory will contribute two 1,600-TEU vessels to the route; COSCO will
operate five ships of approximately the same size.
The joint service will commence on Oct. 25.
It isn’t clear whether the joint operation will replace the Persian
Gulf link previously operated by COSCO on its own.
Uniglory will continue to operate its two other services linking the
Far East to the Mideast. They are the Far East/Subcontinent/Arabian Persian Gulf
"APG" service and the Taiwan/Southeast Asia/Indian Subcontinent/Arabian Persian
Gulf "APS" service.
The Far East/Mideast operation is the second joint service introduced
this year by the Evergreen group and COSCO. In May, Evergreen and COSCO merged their
Asia/South Africa/East Coast of South America container services into a joint 10-ship
joint service.
