EXPORTERS TO GET LESSON ON BIOLOGICAL MATERIALS

   The U.S. Commerce Department’s Office of Export Enforcement will meet with shippers on April 14 in Vienna, Va., to review the latest rules for exporting biological materials.

   The agency’s Business Executives’ Enforcement Team meeting is co-sponsored by the American Type Culture Collection. The ATCC is a global nonprofit bio-resource center that provides biological products, technical services and educational programs to industry, government and academics.

   The Office of Export Enforcement polices export controls on items used to make chemical and biological weapons. Representatives from Commerce’s Export Administration and Office of Chemical and Biological Controls and Treaty Compliance, CIA, U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, and the Justice Department will also speak at the meeting.
