GEODIS SELLS FERON SHIPPING AGENCY
Geodis, the French logistics group, said that it will sell its shipping agency subsidiary G. Feron-E. de Clebsattel to its main stockholder.
SNCF Participations, a company owned by the French railways and a stockholder of Geodis, will acquire the subsidiary.
Feron’s activities include port handling, shipping agency, port transit and container logistics activities. In 1999 its consolidated sales amounted to 900 million francs (about $120 million). It has offices in Dunkirk, Rouen, Le Havre and Marseilles.
Geodis said that the disposal is part of a policy of withdrawal from non-strategic activities. The core businesses of Geodis are groupage (less-than-truck load), full truck loads, logistics, and air and maritime forwarding, the company said.
Geodis will sell 51 percent of Feron in January 2001 and the remaining 49 percent in January 2002.
