Maersk Sealand alerts customers to EU wood-packaging rules
Maersk Sealand has informed its customers that the European Union will enforce its regulations concerning wood packaging material for consignments imported into the EU.
As of March 1, all wood packaging material that is imported into the EU from non-EU countries (with the exception of Switzerland) has to comply with the international standard on phytosanitary measures 15 rules.
The ISPM 15 rules will require wood packaging material such as pallets, dunnage, crating, packaging blocks, drums, cases, and load boards to be treated to remove any possible trace of plant pest. In addition all packaging material will have to bear visible marks in accordance to approved measures.
