CMA CGM, EVERGREEN GROUP EXTEND COOPERATION TO TRANSPACIFIC
France’s CMA CGM and Lloyd Triestino di Navigazione, the Italian shipping subsidiary of the Evergreen group, will exchange space in the transpacific trade under a new cooperation agreement.
The transpacific cooperation follows the announcement in mid-March of the first cooperation agreement between the independent-minded Taiwanese carrier Evergreen and CMA CGM, through a slot exchange in the trade between Asia and Europe.
The transpacific agreement will consist of an exchange of slots between the TPX service of CMA CGM and the CPN and CPS loops of Lloyd Triestino and Evergreen.
Lloyd Triestino will take 200 TEUs a week on the CMA CGM transpacific service, both eastbound and westbound, while the French carrier will take the same number of slots of Lloyd Triestino’s services.
Lloyd Triestino and CMA CGM said that their agreement is still subject to approval by the relevant governmental authorities, and they expect to receive approvals by early May.
Lloyd Triestino’s CPN service calls at Qingdao, Shanghai, Pusan, Hakata, Nagoya, Tacoma, Vancouver, Pusan and Qingdao. Its CPS loop has a rotation of Shanghai, Ningbo, Oakland, Los Angeles and Shanghai.
The transpacific leg of CMA CGM’s MEX-TPX multitrade service comprises calls at Port Klang, Singapore, Hong Kong, Yantian, Xiamen, Pusan, Los Angeles, Oakland, Shanghai, Pusan, Keelung, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore and Port Klang.
“This cooperation between CMA CGM and Lloyd Triestino will enable both carriers to upgrade their services for the benefit of their customers, but without adding to the capacity they offer on the transpacific trades,” the carriers said in a joint statement.
In the transpacific trade, CMA CGM also cooperates with China Shipping and Norasia, while Evergreen exchanges space with New World Alliance carriers APL, Hyundai and MOL.
