NOL/APL APPOINTS CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER
Neptune Orient Lines, the parent company of APL, has appointed Donald G. Liedtke as its chief information officer.
Liedtke was previously CIO at Packard Bell NEC, Inc. For a time, he also established his own general management and consulting firm that provided systems architecture and business system designs for Federal Express.
Liedtke will be based at the APL office in Oakland, Calif., which houses NOL’s information technology group. He will head about 300 computer systems specialists.
NOL said that information technology “providing rapid shipment tracking, routing changes at will, ‘stopwatch’ scheduling, and overall logistics management” will continue to be its competitive advantage in the 21st century.
NOL said that it is still looking for a senior vice president of global human resources and a new chief executive for APL Logistics. Both appointments are expected to be made within the next 60 to 90 days, the company said.
