USDA denies trade adjustment help to California citrus grower group
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service turned down a petition for trade adjustment assistance from a group of California citrus growers.
The agency’s investigation found that imported clementines did not contribute significantly to the decline in domestic producer prices of navel oranges during the November 2002-May 2003 marketing year.
Instead, the agency found that price declines in California navel oranges was due to increased domestic production.
