SOUTH SEAS ASSIGNS NEW SHIP
South Seas Steamship Line, the Pacific Islands carrier of Columbus
Lines, has assigned a new 1,116-TEU containership to its route linking the
U.S. West Coast with Tahiti, American Samoa, Western Samoa, Tonga, New
Zealand and Hawaii.
South Seas has been operated by Columbus Line since its acquisition
last year by Hamburg Sud. Columbus also has its own service between the
West Coast and Australia and New Zealand, with additional calls at Fiji and
Tahiti.
