China Southern confirms 787 deal
China Southern airlines said it has placed a firm order for 10 next-generation Boeing 787 jetliners.
The announcement formalizes a preliminary order placed earlier this year by the Chinese government on behalf of six Chinese airlines for 60 787s, Boeing’s new entrant in the mid-size, long-haul market designed to wrest market share from rival Airbus.
Boeing is scheduled to being production of the 787 line next year, with first deliveries taking place in 2008.
