Former Baltimore port director White joins Ceres Terminals

Ceres Terminals has appointed James J. White senior vice president and chief operating officer.

White recently resigned as head of the Maryland Port Administration. He joined the MPA in 1993 as director of operations and executive vice president of Maryland International Terminals. In 1998, he was appointed executive director of the MPA, overseeing all waterborne commerce activities in the Port of Baltimore.

Ceres Terminals, based in Weehawken, N.J., provides stevedoring and terminal operations in about a dozen U.S. ports. In 2002, the company became subsidiary of Nippon Yusen Kaisha Group of Japan.

Ceres executives hope to benefit from White’s port operations experience. “Over the past two years, we have expanded our scope of operations and Jim is a welcome addition that will help ensure Ceres’ continued progress,” said Thomas Simmers, president and chief executive officer of both Ceres Terminals and Yusen Terminals, in a statement.
