MSC hikes wastepaper rates
Mediterranean Shipping Co. said it would implement a general rate increase for commodity wastepaper to the Far East, effective Aug. 1.
MSC, which has its U.S. headquarters in New York, said the rate hike was needed because of “market conditions, including rising fuel costs and other operational factors.”
The rate for port-to-port shipments will increase $30 from Long Beach and $50 from Oakland. Inland point intermodal rates moving via Long Beach will increase $100.
