CONSOLIDATORS INTERNATIONAL CONTRACTS WITH FEDEX FOR GROUND SHIPMENTS
Consolidators International, a global air freight wholesaler based in Los Angeles, has signed a contract for Federal Express to handle ground transportation for Consolidators’ customers in the 48 contiguous states.
FedEx will truck less-than-truckload shipments for from any point in the United States Consolidators’ hubs in Atlanta and Los Angeles, where the goods will be consolidated for transit on to international destinations.
The new contract offers a range of options “depending on the urgency of the shipment,” said Julian Keeling, president and chief executive officer of Consolidators International.
“Being able to log onto the FedEx consignment number to determine instantly the status of freight is in sharp contrast to local trucking contractors, where cargo may fall into a black hole (and) finding it may take days,” Keeling said.
The new contract also expedites claims for lost or damaged freight, he explained. “Utilizing FedEx … claims are quickly settled, in contrast to using local truckers, who either minimize claims or simply ignore them, to the consternation and frustration of the shipper,” Keeling said.
