BDP acquires full ownership of Brazil operations
BDP International, the U.S.-based freight forwarding and logistics services company, said it is poised for growth in Brazil now that it has acquired full ownership of its operations there.
BDP said in February it acquired all outstanding shares of a joint venture company it had established with Grupo Mesquita in 2000. The joint venture operation provides full-service air, sea and inland logistics services between Brazil and markets worldwide. BDP's Brazil operations are based in Sao Paulo, with offices located in 16 cities throughout the country.
“Grupo Mesquita has been a good partner, enabling regional management and our staff to establish a solid foundation to help our customers grow,” said John M. Bolte, managing director-BDP Americas. “Asserting a wholly owned presence in Brazil is an important initiative, not only for our customers in Latin America, but for BDP clients who rely upon our global network as well.”
Bolte added the company would begin linking the Brazil operations with operations in North America, China, the Pacific Rim, Europe and the Middle East.
