SEABULK INTERNATIONAL COMPLETES SALE OF INLAND BARGE, TOWBOAT FLEET
Seabulk International Inc. said it has sold the inland barge and towboat fleet of its Sun State Marine Services Inc. subsidiary to Colonial Towing Inc.
Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Seabulk International said proceeds from the transaction, about $3.8 million, will be used to pay down Seabulk's debt.
Colonial Towing is a subsidiary of Colonial Group Inc., a privately held, Savannah, Ga.-based diversified company involved in the storage and distribution of liquid and bulk products and other businesses.
The sale 'represents a further step in the ongoing program to sell off non-strategic assets and focus on our three core businesses of offshore energy support, marine transportation and towing,' said Gerhard E. Kurz, president and chief executive officer of Seabulk International.
