Judge backs subpoenas in Deutsche Post case

U.S. chief administrative law judge Ronnie A. Yoder has ruled in Washington that the chief executives of Deutsche Post and DHL Worldwide Express must be available for court interviews as part of the government’s review of the ownership of DHL Airways.

The two executives are Klaus Zumwinkel, chief executive of Deutsche Post, and Uwe R. Doerken, chief executive of DHL Worldwide, owned by Deutsche Post.

Yoder said both were officers in companies that had significant ownership interest in DHL Airways.

Yoder refused a request by lawyers for Zumwinkel and Doerken asking that the court void subpoenas from United Parcel Service and FedEx.

UPS and FedEx allege DHL Airways is controlled by Deutsche Post in violation of U.S. federal rules pertaining to airline nationality ownership.
