ANZDL DROPS SEATTLE CALL, ADDS FORTNIGHTLY STOP IN MEXICO

ANZDL DROPS SEATTLE CALL, ADDS FORTNIGHTLY STOP IN MEXICO

Australia-New Zealand Direct Line, a subsidiary of CP Ships, has dropped the weekly direct call in Seattle it began last June and added a new fortnightly direct call in Manzanillo, Mexico.

The line’s last direct call in Seattle was on Feb. 4 by the “Direct Kiwi.”

ANZDL began trial calls at Manzanillo in January.

Ending direct calls in Seattle eases the main voyage legs by one additional day, both northbound and southbound. It permits fortnightly northbound sailings to call at Manzanillo as well as Papeete, Tahiti, with alternate sailings continuing to call fortnightly at Suva.

The main ports which continue to be served weekly are Oakland, Los Angeles, Tauranga, Melbourne, and Sydney.

On weeks when there is no sailing from Manzanillo, cargo for Australia and New Zealand will be accepted for overland routing via Los Angeles. This facility is not advertized northbound.

The new northbound transit time from Tauranga to Manzanillo is 14 days, nine days less than via Los Angeles.
