APL starts Ireland/continental Europe feeder link

APL is starting a weekly service linking Dublin and Cork in the Republic of Ireland with the mainline hub ports of Rotterdam and Zeebrugge.

The North Europe-Ireland Service (NIS) will commence with the sailing of the 510-TEU “Achiever” and will call Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Cork, Dublin and back to Rotterdam.

APL said the service will connect via Rotterdam and Zeebrugge to its other services calling in Asia and the Americas.

“NIS is the first dedicated feeder service we have launched in Europe and reflects our confidence in and commitment to the Irish market,” said Henrik Knudsen, APL’s general manager for the Republic of Ireland.

APL said it will continue to serve other ports in the Republic and Northern Ireland by third-party feeder services.

Last week, APL opened its own office in Dublin.
