KCS invests in Midwest, Gulf rail line upgrades

Kansas City Southern Railway Co. will invest about $20 million in 2016 in construction and improvements along its mainline, which transits through Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and northwest Louisiana.

   Kansas City Southern Railway Co. will invest about $20 million in 2016 in construction and improvements along its mainline, which transits through Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and northwest Louisiana. 
   Work will begin April 19 and end by mid-June. The project includes the replacement of six miles of rail, as well as improvements over 100 grade crossings. 
   “KCS, through its U.S. and Mexican subsidiaries, continues to invest in capital projects to expand network capacity, keep maintenance in a regular and healthy cycle, and enhance the safety of our operation,” said David L. Starling, chief executive officer of the Kansas City, Mo.-based railroad, in a statement.
