Eimskip now owns 100% of Daalimpex

Iceland's Eimskip now has a 100 percent equity stake in Dutch cold store company Daalimpex beheer B.V., after purchasing the outstanding 60 percent for an undisclosed amount.

Daalimpex is one of the largest cold store companies in Europe operating six cold stores in the Netherlands with a total storage capacity of about 250,000 tons or 1.7 million cubic meters. Additionally, Daalimpex offers stevedoring, shipping, transportation and order picking all over the world.

Eimskip, which acquired its original 40 percent stake in the company about 12 months ago, said that all of Daalimpex's properties, with an estimated market value of 70 million euros ($90.4 million), are included in the latest deal.

Piet Blankendaal, Daalimpex's owner and managing director since its establishment in 1976, left the company Jan. 1 and has been replaced by Erica van der Ham.

'This step further strengthens Eimskip's strong position in continental Europe. We aim to develop service around cold stores in continental Europe,' said Baldur Gudnason, Eimskip's chief executive officer.
