SCHENKER EXPANDS SERVICE FOR AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY IN ASIA
Schenker AG, a unit of the logistics group Stinnes, is expanding the services for the automotive and ancillary industry into Thailand.
U.S.-based Johnson Controls awarded Schenker Thai a contract to operate and manage all shipping, clearance, storage and line-delivery services for their components from Europe to the factory of their customer General Motors Thailand.
Schenker Thai's logistics center, which is schedule for completion in August, is located near Laem Chabang, an area that is often referred to as the “Detroit of the East” The center will be one of three that Schenker Thailand operates. Combined with centers in Bangkok and Korat, the unit operates about 15,000 square meters of space for the automotive and auto-rated electronics industries.
