Freight Rate Roundup: Maersk, MSC, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, MSC, CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd announced new freight rates.
   Maersk Line announced an increase in FAK rates from:
     • The United States and Canada to Far East Asia, which took effect Nov. 30 and will run until further notice, but not beyond Jan. 1.
     • Far East Asia to the U.S. and Canada effective Dec. 15 until further notice, but not beyond Dec. 31.
     • Asia to the West Coast of Central and South America, Mexico, Panama and the Caribbean effective Dec. 15 until further notice, but not beyond Dec. 31.
     • The Far East to North Europe effective Dec. 15 until further notice, but not beyond Dec. 31.
     • Asia to the Mediterranean effective Dec. 15 until further notice, but not beyond Dec. 31.
     • Asia to New Zealand effective Jan. 1 until further notice, but not beyond Jan. 31.
   MSC announced new freight rates from North Europe to the Far East and Middle East effective Dec. 12 until further notice, but not beyond Jan. 31.
   MSC also issued new freight rates from the Mediterranean (including the Adriatic) and Black Sea to the Far East and Middle East effective Dec. 12 until further notice, but not beyond Jan. 31.
   CMA CGM issued general rate increases from:
     • Asia to the East Coast of South America, including Northeast Brazil, which took effect Dec. 1. Rates increased by $750 per TEU.
     • Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of South America and the West Coast of Central America, which took effect Dec. 1. Rates increased by $750 per TEU. CMA CGM also announced rates on the trade will increase Dec. 15 by $500 per TEU.
     • Asia to Panama, along with all of the Caribbean and Cuba, on the PEX2 loop effective Dec. 15. Rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU, $1,500 per FEU and $1,500 per 40-foot high cube container.
   CMA CGM also announced a new rate restoration program from Asia to Pakistan, West India and Sri Lanka; and from Asia to the Middle East Gulf. The rate adjustments on both of these routes will take place in two successive steps, the first of which was on Dec. 1 and the second of which is on Dec. 15.
   In addition, CMA CGM issued new FAK rates from Northwest India and Pakistan ports on CMA CGM services to all Mediterranean ports on CMA CGM services effective Dec. 4 until further notice.
   CMA CGM also announced new FAK rates from all North European ports, Malta, Cyprus, and Greece main ports (direct on CMA CGM services) to India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka main ports (direct on CMA CGM services) effective Dec. 5 until further notice.
   Hapag-Lloyd announced increased FAK rates on the westbound trade from East Asia to Europe North Continent and the Mediterranean for all non-DG cargo for standard container types effective Dec. 15 until further notice.
   Hapag-Lloyd also issued general rate increases from:
     • East Asia to North America (U.S. and Canada) for all dry, reefer, flat rack and open top containers effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $1,080 per 20-foot standard container; $1,200 per 40-foot standard container and 40-foot high cube container; and $1,520 per 45-foot container.
     • East Asia to the Caribbean, East Coast of Central America, Panama, Mexico Gulf and Progreso for all cargo and container types effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $1,050 per 20-foot container and $1,500 per 40-foot container.
     • East Asia to Mexico, the West Coast of Central America and the West Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $750 per 20-foot container and $1,500 per 40-foot container.
     • The Indian Subcontinent to the U.S. and Canada effective Jan. 1. Rates will increase by $400 per 20-foot standard container; and $500 per 40-foot standard container, 40-foot high cube container and 40-foot reefer container.
