Maersk Sealand adds Sepetiba to U.S./Brazil services
Maersk Sealand has started calls at the port of Sepetiba, near Rio de Janeiro, on its service connecting the U.S. and South American East coasts.
Maersk Sealand’s southbound service to Sepetiba on the “Rumba” service began May 1. Northbound service from the Brazilian port will commence on the carrier’s “Tango” service May 23.
Sepetiba is located south of Rio de Janeiro. Maersk Sealand said the port offers shippers a gateway to southeastern Brazil by circumventing congestion at terminals in Rio de Janeiro.
