LYKES FINALIZES START OF ASIA/MED LINK
Lykes Lines has provided details of the launch in early March of a weekly Asia/Mediterranean container service.
The first westbound sailing of the service will be the sailing of the Ville de Capella from Pusan on March 7, with the first eastbound sailing made by the Ville de Sagitta from Naples, on the same day.
The eastbound rotation of the service will be Barcelona, Fos, Genoa, Naples, Port Kelang, Singapore, Yantian, Hong Kong and Keelung. Westbound, vessels will call at Pusan, Keelung, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Jakarta, Singapore, Port Kelang, Barcelona, Fos, Genoa and Naples.
Lykes said it is already well established in the Mediterranean, from where it operates a transatlantic service. The carrier also has offices in Asia, where it runs transpacific services.
“The entry into this new trade lane marks the first time Lykes Lines has offered a container service that does not include the United States,” a spokesman for the carrier said.
Lykes is providing the Asia/Mediterranean service by buying space on the Asia/Mediterranean leg of the Mediterranean/Asia/U.S. West Coast/Asia/Mediterranean MED-TPX service of CMA CGM.
The transit times of the service and of all other services in the Asia/Europe trade are posted on the global schedules database ComPairSchedules, at http://www.compairschedules.com .
