Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and OOCL issued rate increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line, CMA CGM, Hapag-Lloyd and OOCL issued rate increases.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama and Colombia (Santa Marta, Barranquilla and Cartagena only) effective June 1. Rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU; and $1,500 per forty-foot container (FEU), 40-foot high cube dry and reefer containers, and 40-foot non-operating reefer containers.
   The Danish carrier will also increase rates from the same abovementioned Asian ports to Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Colombia (Buenaventura only) effective June 1. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU; and $1,500 per FEU, 40-foot high cube dry and reefer containers, and 40-foot non-operating reefer containers. CMA CGM will increase rates from:
     • All Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden, Yemen for all cargo effective May 12. Rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
     • East Asia and Japan to the West Mediterranean, East Mediterranean, Black Sea, Adriatic and North Africa for all cargo effective May 15. Rates will increase by $250 per TEU and 230 Euros per TEU to Syria.
     • The Middle East to North Europe, Scandinavia, Baltic, West Mediterranean and East Mediterranean for all cargo effective May 15. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU and $400 per FEU.
     • All Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to all Northern European ports (including the United Kingdom and the full range from Portugal to Finland/Estonia) for all cargo effective May 16. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
     • All Asian ports to Middle East Gulf ports for all cargo. On May 15, rates will increase by $100 per TEU, and on May 22, rates will increase again by $100 per TEU.
     • The West Mediterranean, Adriatic, East Mediterranean and Black Sea to the Far East, Japan, India, Gulf and Red Sea for all cargo effective June 1. Rates will increase by $150 per unit.
   Hapag-Lloyd issued a general rate increase from East Asia to the East Coast of South America for all cargo and container types effective May 15. Rates will increase by $750 per TEU.
   The German carrier will also increase rates from North, South and Central China to the Persian Gulf for all cargo and container types. On May 15, rates will increase by $100 per TEU and on May 22, rates will increase by $100 per TEU.
   Hapag-Lloyd also issued a “freight all kinds” (FAK) rate for all cargos and standard container types from East Asia to North Europe effective May 16. Rates will increase by $900 per TEU container, $1,700 per FEU container and $1,750 per 40-foot high cube container.
   The carrier will also increase FAK rates from Asia to the Mediterranean for all cargos and standard container types effective May 16. Rates will increase by $1,125 per TEU container, $2,150 per FEU container and $2,200 per 40-foot high cube container.
   OOCL will increase rates from the Far East (excluding Japan) to North Europe, the Mediterranean and the Black sea effective May 15. Rates will increase by $280 per TEU.
