Executive Moves: Port Freeport and National Interstate Corp.

Port Freeport’s CEO will retire, while National Interstate appoints a new president.

   Glenn Carlson, Port Freeport’s chief executive officer, said he will retire, effective March 15.  As the Texas port’s CEO, Freeport added Mediterranean Shipping Co. and Hoegh Autoliners as tenants. Carlson has spent 40 years in the port industry.

   National Interstate Corp. has selected Anthony J. Mercurio as president. He has served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of the insurance company since Jan. 1, 2013, and will continue to serve as COO. David Michelson will continue to serve as chief executive officer of National Interstate.
