Kalmar Industries invests in a Shanghai assembly plant
Kalmar Industries, a provider of container handling equipment for ports and terminals, has invested $10 million in a new assembly plant in the Shanghai area. By the end of 2005, the new plant will begin producing terminal tractors, intended for short-distance container and trailer movement.
The facility will also be 'an important step in Kalmar's aim to penetrate the Asian rubber-tired gantry market,' Kalmar said in a statement. Kalmar, headquartered in Sweden, also has offices in Finland, the Netherlands, Estonia, Malaysia, China and the U.S.
