PORT OF LONG BEACH TO DEPLOY SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS
The Port of Long Beach plans to install up to 50 video cameras by May 2004 to monitor port operations and street traffic at key locations as part of a series of extra security precautions instituted since Sept. 11, 2001.
The port said it is seeking bids for the estimated $5.5-million video surveillance system.
The port received a $4-million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for the surveillance system last year.
