KLM CARGO TO RAISE RATES

KLM CARGO TO RAISE RATES

KLM Cargo said it will raise its freight rates by an average of 8 to 10
percent in most markets worldwide beginning in September.
The airline expects strong demand in the fourth quarter on routes to the
Far East and the United States from Europe, and from the Far East to Europe.
Price increases will vary. For instance rates will rise 8 percent from
Europe to Tokyo and from Singapore to Europe. From Europe to Seoul, rates will increase 10
percent.
KLM’s across-the-board increases come after several major cargo
carriers, including Lufthansa Cargo, Northwest Airlines, Air France and
Cathay Pacific Airways, have announced similar increases in anticipation of a strong peak
shipping season.
