CaroTrans rolls out NVO online booking system
CaroTrans International has initiated a new online booking program in its system.
U.S.-based shippers, freight forwarders and co-loaders are now eligible to use the Union, N.J.-based non-vessel-operating common carrier’s online system for U.S. export bookings. A login and password are required.
Through the system, data feeds from the Internet to NVO’s operating system and generates a booking number, which is fed back online to the customer making the booking.
“What distinguishes our system is that a customer receives a real CaroTrans booking number as they complete the online transaction,” said Bob Vietti, vice president of operations at CaroTrans. “Basically, this is a real online booking system with no human intervention.”
The application was under development since last year and required about six months to take live. The project was led by Kevin Drinkwater, global information technology manager for Mainfreight in New Zealand. Mainfreight owns CaroTrans.
