MEGONIGAL NAMED TRAINING DIRECTOR

   Walter F. Megonigal has been appointed to academic director of training for the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies.

   Megonigal will be responsible for day-to-day activities of the institute’s five academic departments: marine safety; navigation/ship handling; transportation management; offshore sailing; and license advancement. He will also oversee the academic division’s two supporting departments, systems engineering and applies research.

   Prior to this appointment, he served as the institute’s business activities coordinator, responsible for course development, training programs, special projects and information technology.

   The institute, based in Linthicum, Md., is the ocean shipping industry’s largest maritime and simulation center for mariners. Over 50,000 mariners use the facility annually.
