Report: Air India to offer direct Mumbai/New York link

   Air India (AI) will start operating non-stop services between Mumbai and New York from June, the Indian Web site mangalorean.com reports.

   The information services said V. Thulasidas, Air India's chairman and managing director, revealed the plans during a press conference on Wednesday at a ceremony where he laid the foundation stone of the cargo handling facility at the new Bangalore International Airport.

   The terminal is being jointly developed by Air India and Singapore Airport Terminal Services Ltd. and will reportedly have two warehouse floors with a gross floor area of    about 200,000 square feet and have design capacity to handle more than 150,000 tons of cargo.
