Lufthansa, DHL tighten joint network
Lufthansa Cargo and DHL will share capacity on five international routes using MD11 freighters operated by Lufthansa.
DHL will have guaranteed blocked space and improved departure times for the new flights. The cooperation agreement will allow DHL to link its East Midlands, Cologne and Brussels hubs into intercontinental connections.
The five new routes, each with four to five joint flights a week, will be:
* Cincinnati/East Midlands.
* New York JFK/Brussels.
* Bahrain/Singapore/Delhi/Cologne.
* Cologne/Hong Kong/Sharjah/Cologne/Bergamo/East Midlands.
* East Midlands/New York JFK/Cologne.
The latter route will be introduced in July, while the other four routes will start in late March.
DHL said the alliance is an extension of its relationship with Lufthansa Cargo within the jointly owned company Aerologic GmbH.
