MARAD APPOINTS OSTROM TO CHIEF COUNSEL
The U.S. Maritime Administration has appointed Robert B. Ostrom to chief counsel.
Ostrom will manage MarAd’s Office of Chief Counsel, which includes five divisions focusing on general and international law, maritime assistance programs, ship financing contracts, legislation and litigation.
Ostrom will also assist the Justice Department in litigation involving the agency and, with the authorization of that department, represents MarAd before federal, state and local courts and before administrative agencies of the federal government.
Ostrom has been an attorney for more than 30 years. He has served as senior and managing partner for several Maryland law firms and as country attorney for Prince George’s County, Md. For several years, Ostrom was a board member of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.
