PORT OF VANCOUVER STARTS EXPANSION
The Vancouver Port Authority said Thursday it has begun an initiative to increase capacity at its container handling facilities, as well as on Roberts Bank, a man-made peninsula extending into the Strait of Georgia.
To facilitate plans for Roberts Bank, the port authority will work with the Corporation of Delta and the Tsawwassen First Nations, who have land nearby.
“Competition with the U.S. is fierce. The ports of Seattle and Tacoma are making major infrastructure investments to compete for this future business,” said David Stowe, chairman of the Vancouver Port Authority. “The reality is that we must start planning now.”
