PANALPINA RANKED EUROPE’S LARGEST AIR FORWARDER
Panalpina, the Swiss logistics group, was ranked Europe’s largest air forwarder for the third year in row in 1999, according to statistics compiled by the International Air Transport Association.
Panalpina said it maintained the top spot mostly because of growth in Sweden, Finland, Italy and the United Kingdom. It also consolidated its leading position in Switzerland with the acquisition of forwarder JackyMaeder.
IATA compiles its air freight data from invoices processed through or by the Cargo Account Settlement System, or CASS, run by the organization. The rankings are based on the net rates paid by forwarders to airlines.
