MILES RE-ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF WORLD SHIPPING COUNCIL
Ray Miles, the chief executive officer of CP Ships, has been re-elected chairman of the board of the World Shipping Council, the Washington, D.C.-based group that represents international liner shipping companies.
Miles, who was elected as the first chairman when the World Shipping Council was formed in 2000, will chair the group for a second two-year term.
Two new members have been elected to the board of the organization: George Hayashi, the president, chairman and CEO of MOL North America, and Dr. Yoram Sebba, president and CEO of Zim Israel Navigation Co.
Other World Shipping Council board members are: Marcel Chang, of Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan) Ltd.; Sooho Cho, of Hanjin Shipping; Thomas B. Crowley, Jr., of Crowley Maritime Corp.; Knud Pontoppidan, of A.P. Moller/Maersk Sealand; Tim Rhein, of APL; and Michael J. S. Seymour, of P&O Nedlloyd.
