Filipino box terminal tightens security, access
International Container Terminal Services Inc., based in the Philippines, said it has reinforced security measures at its Philippine flagship operation, Manila International Container Terminal, in line with the July 1 global implementation of International Maritime Organization's International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) code.
The enhanced security measures include a ban on access by vehicles of any kind to the areas of the container yard and the dockside, comprehensive security checks made by guards on all persons and vehicles entering the terminal, and enforcement of identification checks for entry.
Under the measures, no private cars, either owned by employees of the terminal or other port users, will be allowed to use the restricted or “red” lanes inside the terminal. In addition, no one will be allowed to loiter or walk around the “red” lanes except in cases of emergency.
