P&O Nedlloyd signs $35 million IT network contract
P&O Nedlloyd has signed a $35-million, five-year contract with information technology provider Equant covering the provision of a worldwide communications network.
Under the terms of the agreement, Equant will continue to provide Internet protocol virtual private network (IP VPN) services to the Dutch carrier, linking approximately 150 sites worldwide. Based in the Netherlands, Equant is a subsidiary of the France Telecom.
The container-shipping firm employs more than 12,000 people around the world.
“With such a global reach, P&O Nedlloyd depends on its IP VPN infrastructure to run essential services and applications such as its customized freight management systems, PeopleSoft and messaging systems,” Equant said. The IT firm will provide an IP VPN with managed access, managed firewalls and disaster recovery facilities.
P&O Nedlloyd has already used Equant as a provider for nine years.
