AIRBORNEÆS CHAIRMAN AND CEO, VICE CHAIRMAN RETIRE
Airborne Inc., the holding company for Airborne Express, said Robert S. Cline chairman and chief executive officer, and Robert G. Brazier, vice chairman, stepped down Tuesday and will relinquish their board duties effective April 30.
Carl Donaway, current president and chief operating officer, has become Airborne's CEO and will become chairman April 30.
Donaway began his career with Airborne in 1977, serving in leadership roles in sales, operations, customer service and business analysis. From 1992 to 2000 he served as president of ABX Air Inc., Airborne's airline subsidiary. He was named president and COO of Airborne Express, where he has launched several major growth initiatives, including an extensive ground delivery service.
Cline's 37-year career began with Pacific Air Freight in 1965, which merged with Airborne Express in 1968. He became chairman an CEO in 1984.
Brazier joined Airborne Express in 1959. He joined Pacific Air Freight in 1963, where he hired Cline. Brazier became president and COO of Airborne Express in 1978 and served in that role for 22 years.
