The Russian cargo airline launched a twice-weekly direct freighter service from Moscow to Singapore starting Sept. 3.
AirBridgeCargo Airlines (ABC) launched a twice-weekly direct freighter service from its hub in Moscow to Singapore Sept. 3 to facilitate the transportation of cross-border shipments and enhance Russia’s product offerings for its customers in Asia, the company said in a statement.
Flights will be offered on Thursdays and Sundays utilizing a Boeing 747F.
“Logistics players, who were previously limited by capacity constraints between Singapore and Russia, now have a direct option to transport large freight shipments as well as general cargoes between the two countries,” Changi Airport Group Assistant Vice President for Cargo & Logistics Development James Fong said. “The enhanced air connectivity will foster further trade between both countries which is already growing steadily.”
Singapore Changi Airport’s cargo throughput for the first half of 2015 stood at 912,300 tons, of which 1,034 tons were traded between Singapore and Russia. Between 2010 and 2014, air cargo volumes between the two countries have grown 16 percent annually on average, according to ABC.
AirBridgeCargo Airlines, which is part of Volga-Dnepr Group, provides airfreight services that link Asia, Europe and North America.
