MarAd will review maritime security training courses
The U.S. Maritime Administration has started a voluntary program to approve maritime security training courses under the 2002 Maritime Transportation Security Act.
Trainers wishing to receive course approvals are invited to submit applications to MarAd. To be eligible for the program, trainers, either profit or non-profit, must conduct their business under federal and state laws to qualify, and must conduct their training in the United States or on board U.S.-flag vessels.
“The goal of the program is to promote high quality, uniform training of maritime security professionals,” MarAd said.
The program is free, but is subject to limited funding. Fees may be assessed when funding is used up, MarAd said.
