STATE DEPARTMENT COUNSEL SETS MEETING ON UNCITRAL’S COGSA DRAFT
The Secretary of State’s Advisory Committee on Private International Law will hold a public meeting of a study group considering a draft for an international carriage of goods by sea convention.
The meeting will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. April 5 in the offices of a law firm, Haight Gardner Holland & Knight, Suite 100, 2099 Pennsylvania Ave., Washington.
The study group will assist the State and Transportation departments in determining the U.S. negotiating position for the first session of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), to be held in New York April 15-26.
The Comite Maritime International, which is preparing the carriage of goods by sea draft for UNCITRAL, will also meet in New York during that period. A copy of the preliminary draft convention is available on UNCITRAL’s Web site, http://www.uncitral.org .
