Grand Alliance withdraws Pacific peak season service
Grand Alliance members Hapag-Lloyd, NYK Line, OOCL and P&O Nedlloyd have suspended their joint, fortnightly U.S. East Coast-China “ECX2” container service.
The service was introduced last June to meet customer demand for additional space during the peak shipping season in the transpacific trade, a spokesman for the global alliance said.
The service was suspended after the departure of the vessel “Mare Caspium” from Hong Kong on Oct. 30. The service had been operating on a fortnightly basis with calls at Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong in Asia and Savannah, Norfolk and Charleston in the United States.
