Kuehne + Nagel wins garment contract
Schild, one of Switzerland’s leading fashion retailers, has made a five-year deal for Kuehne + Nagel to manage its supply chain.
K+N will collect high quality ladies’ and men’s clothing from suppliers in Asia and Europe, provide garment finishing services, and distribute product to the 41 Schild outlets across Switzerland
Thomas Herbert, head of sales and management services at Schild, said when orders are placed by Schild’s purchasing department, logistics data is transmitted to K+N.
“Kuehne + Nagel’s specialists check the availability with the respective suppliers in good time and manage the collection and optimal consolidation of the goods; Schild is immediately informed about any deviations in availability dates or quantities,” he explained.
“Upon delivery at Kuehne + Nagel’s textile logistics center in M'nchenstein, Switzerland, goods are quality-checked at piece level,” he said. “Kuehne + Nagel provides garment finishing services such as labeling, putting clothing on hangers, and reconditioning in the steam tunnel. Schild outlets are supplied with the hanging or flat-packed garments several times a week.”
“The textile logistics center also serves as an interim storage facility to absorb fluctuations in customer demand. Returns management is handled by Kuehne + Nagel as well,” he added.
