Independent Container Line to double intermodal fuel surcharge

Richmond, Va.-based Independent Container Line (ICL) said it will double the rate of its emergency intermodal fuel surcharge “due to the escalating costs of fuel caused by hurricane Katrina.”

Effective Oct. 2, the surcharge, applied to all tariff cargo, will increase to $90 (from $45) per intermodal leg. ICL said the port-to-point or point-to-port rate will be $90 and point-to-point rate will be $180.
