Deutsche Bahn restructures logistics management

   German state-owned rail operator and logistics giant Deutsche Bahn has restructured the management and organizational structure of DB Logistics, its transportation and logistics division.

   The operational management of DB Logistics will no longer be based on the companies Schenker, Stinnes and Railion Deutschland, but rather on its six business units.

   Following the changes, the board of DB Logistics comprises:

   * Norbert Bensel, chairman.

   * Hans-J'rg Hager, land transport.

   * Sebastian J'rgens, intermodal.

   * Klaus Kremper, rail freight transport, including freight logistics.

   * Thomas Lieb, air and sea freight.

   * Matthias Reichel, chief financial officer.

   * Peter Schumann, chief information officer.

   * Detlef Trefzger, contract logistics/SCM.

   * Steffen W. Wurst, human resources.

   “The new structure will strengthen the various business units, improve their focus on the market and on the customer, while at the same time it strengthens the leadership of the division and so enhances overall responsibility for the division as a whole,” Bensel said.

   Deutsche Bahn completed the $1.1 billion takeover of BAX Global from U.S. security firm The Brink’s Co. in February.
