TACA revises Panama Canal transit fee
The Trans-Atlantic Conference Agreement said it has revised its Panama Canal transit fee due to the Panama Canal Authority's 'comprehensively changing the basis on which it assesses fees for container vessels' using the canal.
The conference's canal transit fee both eastbound and westbound will be 'revised' from $115 per container to $165 per container, effective May 1.
Because the canal authority has said that, following this fee restructuring, a new assessment basis will be increased, TACA noted 'that action will also be reflected' in the conference's forthcoming tariffs.
