CONFERENCES LOWER RISK SURCHARGES
Three ocean shipping conferences reported Tuesday they plan to lower their risk surcharges, due to favorable reductions in insurance premiums.
The Europe to Australia and New Zealand Conference eliminated the surcharge for Suez transit, while setting the surcharge at $50 per TEU for Jeddah, $40 for Damietta/Port Said, $75 for Israel/Syria/Lebanon, $95 for Algeria/Libya and other Red Sea ports.
Members of the conference are CMA CGM, Compagnie Maritime Marfret, Consortium Hispania Lines, Contship Containerlines, Hapag Lloyd Container Linie, P&O Nedlloyd, and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines.
The Europe Middle East Rate Agreement set its extra risk insurance surcharge at $102 per TEU, down from $112, effective Jan. 15.
EMERA members are AWS (Ellerman, CMA CGM, Hapag Lloyd Container Linie, A.P. Moller-Maersk Sealand, P&O Nedlloyd, Safmarine and United Arab Shipping Co.
The Jeddah Service Group conference set its surcharge at $105 per TEU, down from $115, effective Jan. 15.
