APL, MOL COOPERATE IN U.S./CENTRAL AMERICA/LATIN AMERICA TRADES

APL, MOL COOPERATE IN U.S./CENTRAL AMERICA/LATIN AMERICA TRADES

APL and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines will share ships in several
feeder and regional trades linking the U.S., Central America, the Caribbean and the North
Coast of South America.
The cooperation is an extension of relationship between APL and MOL,
who are also members of the New World Alliance, alongside Hyundai Merchant Marine in the
main east/west trades.
The two companies will share space on three existing services.
The Manaus weekly service calls at Manzanillo, Panama; Cartagena, Colombia; Puerto
Cabello, La Guaira and Puerto Sucre, Venezuela; Port of Spain, Trinidad; Manaus and Belem,
Brazil; Puerto Cabello; Cartagena; and Manzanillo again.
The North Caribbean feeder has a rotation of Panama; Puerto Limon,
Costa Rica; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Rio Haina, Dominican Republic; and Panama.
The Gulf Express weekly service of APL, Crowley, Lykes, Transportacion
Maritima Mexicana and Transportacion Maritima Grancolombiana links Houston, Texas, with
Altamira and Veracruz in Mexico, Puerto Limon, Panama, Cartagena, Barranquilla and Puerto
Cabello.
The regional services of APL and MOL also provide feeder connections
for services to and from North America and Asia.
The two carriers said there has been "a lot of confusion in
the marketplace," as other carriers have consolidated or left the Latin American
trade.
